Privacy Policy

K-Twelve Educational Technologies CC · Effective 5 August 2025

The short version: your data exists to power your learning - nothing else. We never sell it, we never market to children, and parents stay in control. Every quiz you take and question you ask makes the tutor better at teaching you.

1. Introduction

At K-Twelve Educational Technologies CC ("we", "our" or "us"), privacy is not a legal afterthought - it is the foundation of a platform trusted by learners, parents and schools across Namibia and South Africa. This policy explains, in plain language, how we collect, use, protect and share personal information across the k12plus platform: the AI tutor, USSD access, learner, parent and educator dashboards, and related services. By using k12plus, you agree to these terms.

2. What information we collect

We collect only what is needed to personalise learning and improve the platform:

  • Personal information - name, age, grade and class, school, location (region only, never GPS), and contact details of parents, guardians or educators.
  • Educational data - quiz results, learning patterns, engagement history and performance, used to adapt the tutor to each learner.
  • Device and technical data - device type, browser, and access method (web, mobile or USSD), so k12plus works on any phone.
  • Voice and handwriting input - collected only where applicable, to power tutoring and feedback.

3. How we use your information

  • Personalise and adapt learning content to each learner's pace and curriculum
  • Track academic progress and celebrate growth
  • Provide real-time dashboards for teachers and parents
  • Support troubleshooting and respond to user feedback
  • Generate anonymous, aggregated analytics that make the platform better for everyone

4. Consent

We explicitly request consent before collecting or processing personal data - especially for minors. For users under 18, parental or institutional consent is required, in line with Namibian law and global data-protection standards. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

5. Do we sell your data?

No. Never. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal or non-personal information - not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your data is used strictly to support your educational experience.

6. Data security

Your data is protected by:

  • Encrypted cloud storage, in transit and at rest
  • Strict, role-based access controls
  • Regular security updates and independent audits

7. Children's data & marketing

Children's data is never used for marketing - not by k12plus, and not by any third party. Every data point we hold about a learner exists for one purpose only: their education.

8. Third-party services

We use a small number of carefully vetted third-party tools - cloud hosting (e.g. Microsoft Azure), analytics and support services. Each is assessed for child-data protection and GDPR compliance before it touches the platform.

9. Access, correction & deletion

Students, parents and school administrators can request access to their personal data, correction of inaccuracies, or deletion of records at any time. Email paulus@k12edu.io and we will act on it promptly.

10. Data retention

We keep data only as long as necessary to deliver our services, meet legal obligations and support educational reporting. Once it is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

11. Policy updates

As our practices evolve, this policy will too. Updates are posted at www.k12plus.app/privacy-policy, and significant changes are announced by email or in-platform message.

Terms of Use

K-Twelve Educational Technologies CC · Effective 5 August 2025

The short version: use k12plus honestly, for learning. Keep your account safe, respect your classmates and teachers, and let the tutor help you understand - not cheat. We will do our part by keeping the platform available, affordable and safe.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and K-Twelve Educational Technologies CC ("k12plus", "we", "our" or "us"). They govern your use of the k12plus platform: the AI tutor, USSD access, learner, parent and educator dashboards, class and school features, and related services. By creating an account or using k12plus, you accept these terms together with our Privacy Policy.

2. Who may use k12plus

  • Learners in Grade 11 or 12 may register with parental or institutional consent where under 18.
  • Educators may register to manage their classes, set assignments and track performance.
  • Parents and guardians may register and link to their children's accounts using each learner's unique k12plus ID.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you register with - your name, grade, class and school - because they route you to the right classroom, teachers and assignments. Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us immediately at paulus@k12edu.io if you suspect it has been compromised. One account per person; do not impersonate anyone or register on someone else's behalf without authority.

4. Acceptable use

k12plus exists to help you learn. You agree not to:

  • Use the platform to cheat in examinations or submit tutor-generated work as your own where prohibited by your school
  • Bully, harass or abuse other learners, educators or staff in class chats or anywhere on the platform
  • Upload unlawful, harmful or offensive content, or content that infringes another person's rights
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data, probe or disrupt our systems, or scrape the platform
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the platform or its content without our written permission

5. The AI tutor

The AI tutor is a study aid aligned to the Namibian and South African curricula. It explains, practises and gives feedback - it does not replace your teachers, and it can make mistakes. Always check important answers against your syllabus and your educators. Marks, grades and official assessments remain the responsibility of your school.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Core features are free to start. Paid plans are billed as described on our Pricing page in your local currency (N$ or R). Prices may change; we will give notice before changes take effect. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. If a subscription lapses, your data remains safe - you simply lose access to paid features until you renew.

7. Content and intellectual property

The k12plus platform, brand, tutor, lesson content and software are owned by K-Twelve Educational Technologies CC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your education. Work you create - your answers, notes and questions - remains yours; you grant us a licence to process it to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Availability

We build for low-bandwidth, offline-first use, and we work hard to keep k12plus available - but we cannot promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, network conditions and events beyond our control may cause downtime. Offline features keep working without a connection and sync when you are back online.

9. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms - particularly where a user endangers other learners, compromises platform security or misuses children's data. Where reasonable, we will warn you first. On termination, our Privacy Policy governs deletion of your data.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Namibian and South African law, k12plus is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, examination outcomes, or losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Updates are posted at www.k12plus.app/terms, and significant changes are announced by email or in-platform message. Continuing to use k12plus after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Namibia.
